Hillside Animal Sanctuary - Rehabilitation For Neglected Horses
Hillside is solely financed from funds donated by the public.
The Sanctuary's supporters help contribute to the feeding and caring of its rescued animals in a number of ways. An important source of funds is from their adoption scheme and the sale of gifts, either directly from the Open Day shop, through their newsletters or via the website.
There are many ways in which the public can support them, but more help is required to maintain the care and rehabilitation of the animals.
I have a personal attachment to Hillside as myself, (but more so my wife), has rescued many horses in the past and we have used our own money to bring them back to health and then either keep them (as we get attached), or try to find them good homes. This we have done on many occasions but as our own funds depleted more and more we turned to Hillside to help us with 2 of our horses.
Tilly and Lakota were with us for many years, Lakota was rescued from a field having not long been born (approx 4 months old). We looked after him, made sure he grew into a great pony, but of course he wasn't schooled or had ever had anyone sit on him. For 3 years, we made sure he was fit, well and had food, but the time had come to make sure he was in a good home for the rest of his days.
As money was very tight for us now, Hillside came to our rescue and they have worked him and looked after him so brilliantly that he is now ready for a new home. We contributed what we could to help, but now I would like to give back to them in a much bigger way.
The work they do is phenomenal and a lot of it is by volunteers. They need more help and through Up2Give I would like to pledge them as my cause and help them in a much larger way.
